Jagatsinghpur: In a horrifying incident,a woman died while two other family members suffered grievous injuries following a fatal attack by unidentified miscreants in Balikuda block of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Monday night. While the woman died on the spot, her son and daughter in-law have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and are currently undergoing treatment in a critical state.
As per reports, miscreants barged into the house of Mania Biswal in Ogarpur village in the night and attempted to kill the family by hacking them. While Mania succumbed on the spot, son Rakesh and daughter in-law Subhadra suffered critical injuries. While the accused fled the spot after committing the crime, neighbours rushed to the spot and rushed the injured victims to hospital immediately.
Police on getting information, reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem. Sources said Rakesh and Subhadra had a love marriage a few months back. The couple had tied the knot against the wishes of the girl’s family. It is suspected that the latter could have been behind the murderous attack on the family. Investigation is underway, official sources informed.
Meanwhile, panic gripped local residents following the incident.
