Bhubaneswar: A youth allegedly hurled a tomato at Odisha 5T Chairman VK Pandian during a public meeting in Bellaguntha area of Odisha’s Ganjam district, today.
As per reports, the accused hurled the tomato when Pandian went to the state at the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ event as guest.
While the youth was identified as a Congress worker hailing from Bellaguntha, he has been opposing programmes conducted by the ruling BJD and Pandian during the last few months, reports said.
After the untoward incident, policemen immediately nabbed the youth. Some BJD workers were seen thrashing the youth over his act. He was later arrested.
However, the unfortunate incident couldn’t affect the event as the 5T Chairman went on to address the gathering. In his speech, he said, “Someone hurled tomato at me. Such incidents can’t stop me from reaching to the people. Among thousands of people, there will be 2-3 who will try to hurl eggs, tomatoes and ink at me. But I will continue to be with you. No one can stop me from doing so.”
