Nata Mandap repair at Puri Jagannath Temple from today – N.F Times

Puri: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will carry out the remaining repair and conservation work of the Nata Mandap of Shree Jagannath Temple here from today.

Preparations for the repair work are in place but could be affected in case there is any disturbance in the performance of daily rituals of the deities, an ASI official said.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to reschedule the rituals to allow the ASI to carry out the repairing.

The ASI will perform the repair work from February 23 to March 19, during which the rituals of the temple will begin early. The Singhadwara will be opened at 2 am while all rituals would be completed by 11 pm.

The repairing work will be done from 1 pm to 7 pm daily from February 23 to March 19.

While major conservation works of the Nata Mandap like fixing of dislodged stones on its roof, water tightening, and iron beam weathering treatment have been completed, a steel support system will be provided to the cracked beam on the east direction of Nata Mandap in front of the Garuda Stamba.

The steel support system has been designed by IIT-Madras and approved by the ASI.
