Badmal: A major explosion occurred in Magazine No-12 of the Ordnance Factory located at Badmal of Saintala in Bolangir district, today. The reason behind the massive blast has not been ascertained yet.
According to a private source, no fatalities have been reported in the incident so far. As it was a weekly holiday today, no employees were present in the area where the explosion occurred. However, two to three buildings were partially affected due to the explosion. Further information on damage is awaited.
Magazine No-12 is a major godown of the defence production unit in Saintala.
On being informed, two local Fire Brigade vehicles were pressed into service. The flames were doused by the fire services personnel after striving for more than an hour, the source said.
