Bhubaneswar: Several people were killed after being hit by a train near Jamtara in neighbouring Jharkhand today.
However, the Railways are yet to give the official figures regarding the death toll and injured persons.
A train ran over the passengers at Kalajharia railway station at Jamtara. Rescue and medical teams with ambulances rushed to the spot. Several people might have been killed in the mishap, said the police.
According to sources, an express train halted at Kalajharia after fire broke out in it in the evening. The panicked passengers jumped from the train to save their life. Another train passing through the station hit the passengers, sources said.
