Patnagarh: A woman and her daughter were killed on the spot after being hit by a speeding car near Uluba village on Patnagarh-Bolangir road in this district, today afternoon.
The deceased woman was identified as Sarojini Dharua and her daughter as Riti Dharua. They belonged to Uluba village.
According to a source, the mother-daughter duo was on their way back home from a nearby farmland when they met with a fatal road mishap leading to their untimely deaths.
Intensity of the accident was so strong that their bodies broke into pieces and got scattered here and there, an eyewitness stated.
Incensed locals staged a roadblock demanding an arrest of the car driver and adequate compensation to the deceased’s next of kin. Vehicular movement was completely disrupted due to the protest.
On being informed, a team of police reached the spot and tried to convince the locals.
The roadblock was underway till the time when this report was filed.
