Bhubaneswar: An INSAS rifle of a police officer stationed at the 7th Battalion here was allegedly stolen during the recent visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Odisha.
The officer, identified as P Lachhmaya, who was on duty at the 7th Battalion, alleged that his INSAS rifle went missing.
A complaint has been lodged by Lachhmaya at the Maitri Vihar Police Station in the city regarding the theft.
“Police are treating this matter with utmost seriousness. We are currently conducting a thorough investigation and are determined to recover the rifle promptly. Additionally, officers within the battalion are also conducting an investigation,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
