‘Junior Rakshak’ NCC cadets to provide first aid to road accident victims in Odisha – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: NCC cadets will provide first aid to road accident victims in Odisha as they will be deployed as ‘Junior Rakshak’.

The State Transport Department has collaborated with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for the initiative. An MoU in this regard was signed at the Lok Seva Bhawan here, today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressed the event virtually.

Initially, the department will train around 62,000 NCC cadets to save lives of those injured in road accidents by acting as first responders and providing them first aid.

The training will be held at various NCC camps in the state.

The department has set a target of training around 20,000 NCC cadets every year.

The CM had in 2021 launched the ‘Rakshak’ programme. Its objective was to save lives of road accident victims within the ‘golden hour’ by providing prompt and effective first aid, and transportation to nearest hospital.

More than 12,000 first responders have so far been trained across Odisha.
