Odisha youth goes missing when taking bath in river on 10th-day ritual of his grandpa – N.F Times



Aul: A youth went missing today morning while taking a bath in Kani river on the 10th-day (Dasah) ritual of his grandpa near Mangarajpur village of Sansidha panchayat under Aul police limits in Kendrapara.

The missing youth has been identified as 22-year-old Prakash Giri, the son of Sushant Giri and grandson of Purusottam Giri from Mangarajpur village in the district.

According to a family source, after tonsuring his head, the youth went to the water body and was taking a bath when he was swept away by the river water. Prakash used to reside in New Delhi for a long time. He is not well acquainted with rural areas and also does not know how to swim. Hence, the youth slipped deep into the water and went missing, the relative of Prakash expressed.

On being informed, a team of local fire services personnel reached the spot and launched a frantic search to locate the youth. However, Prakash was not traced till the time when this report was filed.

“Prakash is the lone child of his parents. Hence, we all are upset,” the youth’s relative said.
