Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Pramod Kumar Behera, Revenue Inspector, JN Prasad Circle of Jaganath Prasad Tehsil in Ganjam district, for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a person.
The anti-corruption agency also apprehended another man, identified as Bidyadhar Pradhan, in connection with the offence.
As per official sources, Behera and Pradhan had demanded and accepted Rs 5,000 from the complainant for demarcation of a plot recorded in the name of his grandfather.
On the basis of the complaint, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while taking the bribe money. The amount was recovered and seized by the agency.
After the arrest, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at two locations belonging to Behera on suspicion of possession of properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case has been registered against the accused duo while further probe was underway.
