Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik disbursed around Rs 933.07 Crore of KALIA assistance to a total of 46 lakh small, marginal, and landless farmers in Odisha. The CM also inaugurated KALIA Kendras (centres) meant to provide technical assistance to the farmers in all districts of the State.

KALIA assistance duration was extended further up to three years till FY 2026-27. The Government will spend a total of Rs 6,030 Crore towards KALIA assistance to farmers.

Besides, nearly 18 lakh landless farmers were given an additional financial assistance of Rs 2,000 each amounting to a total of Rs 360 Crore for this Kharif crop season.

The purview of educational scholarship to children of beneficiary farmers under the KALIA yojana has been extended to include premier institutions in and outside the State. Earlier, the educational institutions for which scholarship was being provided were NIT, IIT, IIM, AIIMS, and ICAR etc.

“Every farmer’s family in Odisha must live with dignity, become empowered, and also take part in the progress of the State,” the CM expressed on the occasion.

Notably, the farmers in Odisha have been provided with KALIA assistance to the tune of Rs 13,793 Crore in the last five years, a press release of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) mentioned.
