Siblings among 3 killed as speeding truck hits bike in Odisha’s Jajpur – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: Three persons, including two siblings, were killed in a road mishap in Odisha’s Jajpur district today.

The deceased have been identified as Chakradhar Saonia (28) and siblings Anil Hansdah (24) and Sunil Hansdah (16) of Dhooligada Suanla village in Jajpur.

The incident took place while the trio was returning to their village from Brahmanipala area of the district on a bike in the afternoon.

A speeding truck (OD-05-BD-9043) reportedly hit the bike from the rear near the main gate of Jindal Stainless’ plant in Kalinga Nagar area and fled the spot.

Chakradhar and Sunil died on the spot while Anil sustained critical injuries in the mishap. The locals rescued Anil and rushed him to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Danagadi. However, he was declared dead on arrival.

On being informed, Kalinga Nagar police reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem after registering a case in this regard.

The police later seized the truck but the driver managed to escape.

Soon after the mishap, locals gathered at the spot seeking concrete measures to check road mishaps in Kalinga Nagar area. Vehicular traffic on the road was disrupted for quite some time due to the accident.

The villagers alleged that rash driving has been causing frequent road accidents in the locality.

Sources, meanwhile, claimed that the deceased persons were originally from Bainsipur village in Jajpur. Their families had been displaced for the establishment of JSL’s plant in the district some years ago.

Both Chakradhar and Anil were reportedly working in the JSL’s plant a few days ago.
