AQI updates: Air quality falls into ‘poor’ category in Odisha’s Angul – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: The Air Quality Index (AQI) of some places in Odisha witnessed a ‘satisfactory’ AQI rating, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) sources said today. However, Angul recorded a ‘poor’ air quality with an index value of 243 and major pollutant found was O3.

AQI of other places are: Balasore (air quality-satisfactory, index value-85, and major pollutant found-PM10), Barbil (air quality-moderate, index value-158, and major pollutant found-PM10), Baripada (air quality-moderate, index value-113, and major pollutant found-PM2.5), Bhubaneswar (air quality-satisfactory, index value-82, and major pollutant found-PM10), Brajarajnagar (air quality-satisfactory, index value-100, and major pollutant found-PM10), Cuttack (air quality-satisfactory, index value-69, and major pollutant found-O3), Keonjhar (air quality-satisfactory, index value-89, and major pollutant found-PM10), Nayagarh (air quality-moderate, index value-177, and major pollutant found-PM10), Rairangpur (air quality-moderate, index value-103, and major pollutant found-PM10), Rourkela (air quality-moderate, index value-160, and major pollutant found-PM2.5) and Talcher (air quality-moderate, index value-129, and major pollutant found-PM2.5).

Worth mentioning, breathing clean air lessens the possibility of stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, lung cancer as well as chronic and acute respiratory ailments such as asthma. Lower levels of air pollution are better for heart and respiratory health both in the long and short-term.
