After Priyadarshi, former Odisha MLA Akash Dasnayak quits BJD – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: Ollywood actor-turned-politician Akash Dasnayak resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) here today.

The BJD’s star campaigner tendered his resignation letter to the party chief Naveen Patnaik citing a ‘loss of self-respect’ in the party.

“On hearing the voice of my inner soul, I am resigning from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal) for my self-esteem and self-respect of the people of Korei. My life is dedicated to the service of mankind and the people of Korei. I will take further course of action based on suggestions from my supporters and people of Korei,” Akash said in a video message today.

Earlier in the day, former Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra had deserted the conch party. Soon after the move, he joined the BJP ahead of the ensuing 2024 elections.

Akash Dasnayak was elected to Odisha Legislative Assembly from Korei on a BJD ticket in 2014 elections. The BJD had also sent him to the Rajya Sabha before fielding him for the Assembly polls.
