Youth stabbed to death in scuffle between two groups in Odisha’s Ganjam, 2 detained – N.F Times



Aska: A youth was allegedly stabbed to death last night in a violent scuffle between two rival groups at Padhalo locality under Kotinada police limits of Aska in Ganjam district. Police have detained two persons in this connection and initiated a probe.

The deceased youth was identified as 23-year-old Rushi Nayak, who belonged to Talapatana village under Dharakote police limits of the district.

According to a source, Rushi had come to his brother-in-law’s house in Aska earlier in the day to visit a religious event and stayed at night. Two neighbours of the relative indulged in an altercation for reasons not known yet. Rushi intervened in their matter and tried to put an end to the brawl.

Things took an ugly turn when a member of a particular group attacked Rushi with a sharp weapon and stabbed him. The victim youth collapsed on the ground and succumbed.

On being informed, Kotinada police reached the spot and seized the body of Rushi. Police have sent it to sub-divisional hospital (SDH) in Aska for post-mortem.

A detailed probe into the alleged murder is underway, a senior cop said.
