Bhubaneswar: A young girl was found dead while lying on the river bank of Daya near Lingipur locality under Dhauli police limits and on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, today morning.
The deceased was identified as Bhagya Dakua, a permanent resident of Hinjlicut in Ganjam district. She had been residing in Sisupalgarh along with her father and other family members.
“A youth from West Bengal had lured my daughter away from my house around three months ago. Some locals noticed three youths disposing of her body on the banks of river Daya, late Sunday night. Later, they informed the police. I was intimated by police in the wee hours of today at around 4.00 AM. I suspect that the youth has killed my daughter,” the victim girl’s father Hina Dakua alleged.
On being informed, Dhauli police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have also seized two motorcycles from the river bank. A case has been registered and a probe initiated.
Police have detained a youth named Raju Bangali and two others in this connection. They are now being interrogated by a probe team to gather more information. A scientific team and a dog squad have been pressed into service and a detailed investigation is underway, a senior police official expressed.
