Bhubaneswar: The police along with the members of a flying squad today seized Rs 3.7 lakh in cash from an SUV during routine checking in Odisha’s Malkangiri district ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state.
The cops and the members of the flying squad intercepted the SUV (CG-18-AL-5550) near Chalanguda while the vehicle was on its way to neighbouring Chhattisgarh and found the money. Two persons were travelling in the car, sources said.
The police seized the money after two occupants in the SUV could not cite any satisfactory reason for carrying the money with them. They also could not reveal the source of the money, sources added. The two occupants have been detained by police for questioning.
