Jolt to Cong leader Mohammed Moquim in ORHDC case as HC upholds lower court’s conviction – N.F Times

Cuttack: Trouble mounted for Congress leader Mohammed Moquim ahead of the Assembly elections-2024 as the Orissa High Court today upheld a lower court’s verdict, which had sentenced him to three years of imprisonment in Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC) loan scam case.

A Special Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar had awarded him three years of rigorous imprisonment in the loan scam case. Moquim was working as the Managing Director of Metro Builders Private Limited during the alleged scam.

Moquim was allegedly involved in obtaining pecuniary advantage in favour of the company in guise of loans meant for rural poor from ORHDC.

After the conviction by the Vigilance Court, he had moved the High Court to challenge it.

While hearing the petition, the High Court today dismissed his appeal and upheld the conviction passed by the lower court.
