Bhubaneswar: At least two passengers were killed and several others were injured when a bus fell off a bridge in Odisha’s Jajpur district today.
The incident took place while the bus, named Kalia Nana, was on its way to Kolkata from Puri in the evening.
The bus fell off the Barabati bridge in Jajpur after the driver lost control over the vehicle. There were around 50 passengers in the bus.
The Fire Brigade personnel along with the police launched an operation to rescue the injured passengers. They used gas cutters to cut the mangled bus and rescue the passengers.
The administration deployed around 10 ambulances to rush the injured persons to a hospital at Dharmashala. Two passengers were reportedly declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
A few critically-injured passengers were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
