Patkura/Aul: At least three persons were killed today in separate incidents of lightning strikes that took place in Kendrapara district.
The first incident was reported from Bangari and Pundilo villages under Garadpur block. Two deceased were identified as a youth named Purnachandra Chhatoi and an elderly man Asutosh Jena. Lightning striked on Purnachandra when he was standing near his house. Asutosh suffered the strike when he was on the rooftop of his house. The bodies have been kept in Patkura CHC for post-mortem.
In the second incident, another youth identified as Anil Behera, son of Bishnu Charan Behera was killed when he was working in a farmland in the afternoon at Saliancha village under Aul police limits. He was rescued by some locals and was taken to Aul CHC, where doctors declared him ‘dead’.
Local police have registered two separate cases and initiated probes into the deaths.
