Malkangiri: The district police have made a significant cash seizure totaling Rs 30 lakh from a car entering Odisha from neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place near Chalanguda on Malkangiri-Sukma Road on Tuesday evening during police’s vehicle checking drive ahead of the elections.
As per reports, the cops noticed a car arriving from Sukma district in Chhattisgarh and decided to conduct a routine check. During the inspection, officers discovered the substantial amount of cash.
Neither the driver nor the passenger could provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the source of the cash.
Subsequently, police seized the money and detained the two for further questioning.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the origin and purpose of the seized cash.
