Prabodh Tirkey joins BJP days after quitting Congress – N.F Times



Sonepur: Prabodh Tirkey, former captain of the Indian hockey team, today joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha in the presence of state unit president Manmohan Samal and other senior leaders of the party at an inclusion ceremony held in Sonepur town of Subarnapur district.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, senior BJP leaders from Western Odisha Jayanarayan Mishra and Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo were among others present on the occasion.

Union Minister of Home Affairs (MHA) Amit Shah later arrived at the public meeting to hit the campaign trail in Odisha for the upcoming simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly.

Worth mentioning, Prabodh Tirkey was a Congress ticket aspirant from Talsara Assembly constituency and he previously left the party on April 20. He had tendered his resignation from primary membership of the party and sent his resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief.

Prabodh was earlier given a ticket by Congress party from Talsara-ST Assembly constituency segment. However, he was again denied a ticket and Devendra Bhitaria was fielded in his place.
