Bhubaneswar Mero Project: Survey carried out from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan Square – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: The survey work for the proposed metro railway in Bhubaneswar was started on Friday by the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan Square.

A joint team from the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, TPCODL, GAIL, BSNL, WATCO, and Commissionerate Traffic Police carried out the survey.

The team inspected public roads to prepare for the ambitious metro railway project by checking electricity poles, water pipes, telephone lines, gas pipelines, and more around the proposed metro station sites.

The metro railway project will be a 26-km line connecting Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia in Cuttack. The tracks will be elevated ones.

The project will be carried out with an expenditure of Rs 6,255 crore by the State Government.

It will cover 26 km with 20 stations– Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vani Vihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nanadankanan Zoological Park, Phulapokhari and Trisulia Square.

Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation has signed an MoU with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the project. The project is targeted to be completed in four years.
