Koraput: Police seized ganja worth Rs 40 lakh in Koraput district while being smuggled by two persons in two separate vehicles on Monday.
The peddlers have been identified as Manoj Oram and Mohammad Sarfaraj of Jharsuguda district.
Based on intelligence about some peddlers trying to smuggle ganja outside of Odisha via Jeypore, the police officials formed a team under the command of SP Koraput, to arrest the culprits.
Under the supervision of SDPO Nandapur, a team was formed to crack down on the culprits.
The team led by Sub-inspector Gobinda Chandra Hansdah gheraoed and arrested the miscreants near Tusuba Chowk, Lamptaput.
In the operation, 18 tinsel plastic bags containing ganja weighing 409 kg and 600 grams were seized, along with two four-wheelers, a smartphone and a keypad phone.
The entire amount of the cannabis was seized and the two smugglers were arrested.
