70 Spike Holes Unearthed Inside Pusuguppa Forest In Telangana – N.F Times




Bhubaneswar: As many as 70 spike holes containing iron nails dug up by Maoists were unearthed in Telangana’s Charla Mandal, bordering Malkangiri district on Tuesday.

In a joint operation led by Chhattisgarh and Telangana police forces, 4,396 iron spikes were seized from the Pusuggupa forest area.

These booby traps are sharp iron spikes planted in deep pits in the forest areas which are regularly accessed by tribals, their animals and also security forces and police personnel. The pits are then covered with branches or trash to dodge the security forces.

Police forces with the CRPF have unearthed the deadly booby traps equipped with sharp iron spikes planted by banned Maoists, said SP of Bhadradri Kothagudem.

The iron spikes were salvaged from the booby traps and seized by the forces. People living in the bordering areas are cautioned against the bobby traps and asked to remain alert.

In recent times, numerous innocent tribals, wild animals as well and police officials operating in the forest were victims of the deadly traps and IEDs planted by the Naxalites.
