Former Village Education Committee President Gets 2-Yr RI In Graft Case – N.F Times


Gajapati: The Special Judge, Berhampur, sentenced a former Village Education Committee President to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.

The accused has been identified as Dukha Mandal, Ex-President, of the Village Education Committee, Baghasingsahi Primary School under R.Udayagiri police station in Gajapati district.

Mandal was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988/409/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of Govt. money meant for the construction of a new primary school building at Baghasingsahi in the district of Gajapati.

Mandal was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of the fine to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988.

The court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 1 month more for the offence U/s 409 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
