Mohan Charan Majhi Becomes The Youngest Odisha CM – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader, Mohan Charan Majhi is going to become the youngest Chief Minister of Odisha. All those who had been Chief Ministers of Odisha before Majhi were older than him.

Majhi is going to be the Chief Minister at the age of 52, while all the other Chief Ministers were older than him at the time of taking the oath of office. Even, five-time Chief Minister & BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik was 54 years old when he was sworn in as the CM in 2000.

Mohan Majhi is setting the first record of becoming the Chief Minister of Odisha from Keonjhar. No Chief Minister has ever been elected from Keonjhar district. The former Chief Ministers were from Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Cuttack, Koraput, Balangir, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Jharsuguda etc. Many strong politicians from Keonjhar have been in the state cabinet, but none has ever been the Chief Minister till Majhi.

Majhi staked the claim to form the Government in front of the Governor at Raj Bhavan today. Majhi was accompanied by Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupender Yadav, Ashwini Vaishnaw, & State BJP President Manmohan Samal, Deputy CMs designate KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.

“Due to the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the BJP has achieved a majority in Odisha and is going to form the government in the State. I would like to thank the 4.5 crore Odias who decided to vote for a change and bring the BJP to power in Odisha. The BJP will honour the trust that the people of Odisha have shown,” said CM-designate of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi after being elected as the BJP Legislative party leader in the state assembly.

In response to media queries, Mohan Majhi’s elder son gave a very nice response. He said – “After knowing that my father is the Chief Minister, roses are blooming in my mind. I feel very happy and speechless.”

Similarly, Majhi’s younger son Krishna, who studies in Kendriya Vidyalaya, said that he was overwhelmed to know that his father is the Chief Minister and said that his friends are asking for a party. “I will give them a party when the school reopens,” he said.

Similarly, Majhi’s wife Priyanka Majhi said, “I thought he would be a minister but never thought he would be named Chief Minister…I feel very happy…”

Mohan Charan Majhi started his career as a guruji at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, a school run by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The 52-year-old leader started his political journey by becoming a sarpanch.
