Balasore Curfew: Relaxation Increased, Schools to Open Monday – N.F Times


Balasore:  The Balasore district administration on Sunday, decided to reduce the curfew bringing relaxation timing from 5 am to 9 pm in the Sahadevkhunta police station area and from 5 am to 2 pm in the town police station area. Curfew in Balasore is in force till midnight of 24 June, mainly in Sahadevkhunta and Town police station areas due to group clashes.

As normalcy is returning to the town, the decision has been taken to reopen all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, anganwadis from Monday, which have been closed in the city for some time, District Collector Ashish Thakre said at a press conference.

On behalf of the district administration, Thakre called for public cooperation to maintain peace. Broadband and Wi-Fi services via landlines have been restored, and mobile internet services are expected to resume normal function by tomorrow, he added.

In relation to the recent group clash, SP Sagarika Nath reported that 21 cases have been filed and 89 individuals have been apprehended. The police have initiated drone surveillance in sensitive zones to monitor people’s activities and have intensified cyber patrolling to prevent the spread of rumours on social media.

SP Nath urged the public to disregard any rumours. She mentioned that the person who created rumours has been traced and arrested with a case registered against him. She further advised the people to report any suspicious rumours to the cyber police.
