Wimbledon 2024: De Minaur Withdraws Due To Injury, Djokovic Takes Walkover into Semis | Pragativadi | Odisha News, Breaking News Odisha, Latest Odisha News – N.F Times

Wimbledon 2024: Alex de Minaur, the ninth seed, has pulled out of Wimbledon following a hip injury incurred during his 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Arthur Fils in the fourth round.

De Minaur expressed his devastation, noting that doctors have advised a three to six-week recovery period, likely excluding him from the upcoming Paris Olympic Games.

“I’m heartbroken to withdraw due to a hip injury,” de Minaur stated in today’s press conference. “There’s a slight tear in the fibre cartilage at the end, which attaches to the adductor.

“I heard a sharp crack in the final points of the match against Fils and had a scan yesterday. The scan confirmed the injury, which carries a high risk of aggravation if I continued to play.”

With de Minaur’s withdrawal, seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic advances to the semifinals by walkover.

Djokovic, holder of 24 Grand Slam titles, will face the victor of the quarterfinal match between 13th seed Taylor Fritz of the USA and 25th seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy.
