Low Pressure Forms Over BoB: IMD Predicts Heavy Rains in Odisha Districts – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers are expected in most areas across South Odisha today.

IMD’s regional centre predicts significant rainfall in Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur districts.

A ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued by IMD for isolated heavy rainfall in one or two locations within these nine districts.

Due to a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal on July 19, the northern districts of Odisha are also likely to see light to moderate rain.

For Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, IMD’s twin-city forecast anticipates a high of 32°C and a low of 27°C today.

The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, shared via their X handle that the cumulative rainfall from June 1 to July 17, 2024, amounted to 280.1 mm, which is below the normal of 382.8 mm. In this period, 11 districts received normal rainfall, while the remaining 19 were categorized as deficient.
