New Delhi: Members of the INDIA bloc on Wednesday protested in Parliament over the “discrimination” against the opposition-ruled states in the Union Budget. The Congress has alleged that the budget had “blacked out” states where there are non-BJP governments. It also alleged that non-BJP-ruled states were not even mentioned in Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech.
Sitharaman, however, responded to the charge by saying that it is not possible to name every state of this country.
Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is responding to the Opposition’s charge that only two states benefitted from yesterday’s Budget. She also responded to the charge that non-BJP-ruled states were not even mentioned in the Budget speech.
“I didn’t mention Maharashtra, but we have approved a port in the State. It is worth Rs. 76,000 crores,” Sitharaman says. “Did Congress FMs mention all State names during their Budget speeches?”
“This is a deliberate attempt of the Opposition led by Congress to give the impression to people that nothing has been given to our states. This is an outrageous allegation…” Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in Rajya Sabha.
