Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday reinstated the service of suspended senior OAS officer, Deba Prasad Das, and appointed him as Joint Secretary to the Government, Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department.
The General Administration and Public Grievance Department has issued a notification reinstating Das in service from the date of his joining with a condition that he must adhere to the Odisha Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1959.
On being reinstated in service, Deba Prasad Das has been appointed as Joint Secretary to the Government, Odia LL&C Department.
OAS officer Deba Prasad Das was placed under suspension on 28 May 2018 by the previous BJD government as a part of departmental disciplinary action.
Dash served as a joint secretary in the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) when he faced suspension without prior notice. He claimed to be a victim of increasing intolerance and the undue influence of non-Odia officers within the state bureaucracy and governance.
While Dash contended that his punishment was unwarranted and a result of certain officers’ sycophancy, others speculate that his participation in events organised by the Central government led to his suspension.
