Malkangiri: Eighteen villages of Nakamamudi panchayat within the Korukunda block of Malkangiri district have been isolated from the outside world due to a significant landslide at Bayapada ghat, caused by continuous rain on Saturday.
The landslide has halted vehicle traffic, prompting residents to build a makeshift wooden bridge for transport, despite the risks involved.
The district administration, informed of the situation, faces delays in repair and clearing operations due to ongoing rainfall, according to sources.
Landslides are not new to Bayapada ghat; a substantial one last year similarly disrupted life in the area.
