Paris: India’s Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema did not qualify for the medal round of the men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the Paris Olympics in Chateauroux on Saturday.

Sarabjot Singh ranked 9th with a total score of 577-16x, just behind Germany’s Robin Walter who scored 577-17X.

Arjun Singh Cheema came in 18th with a score of 574-17x.

Germany’s Robin Walter, with a score of 577, secured the final eighth qualifying spot by shooting one more inner 10 (X) than Sarabjot’s 16.

Sarabjot, aged 22, surged into the top three with a perfect 100 in the fourth series after a weak start, but could not maintain the pace and dropped out.

Cheema achieved 10 perfect 10s in his last 10 shots, moving up to fourth place, but eventually lost ground after showing early promise.

The 23-year-old Cheema earned 97 points in Series 2 (8, 10, 10, 10, 9, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10), ranking him 10th. He scored 96 points in Series 1. However, a subsequent 7 and 9 saw him fall out of the top eight.

Both Cheema and Sarabjot were members of the Indian team that clinched the 10m air pistol team gold at the previous year’s Asian Games in Hangzhou.
