Ganjam: In a fresh development in the Chikiti hooch tragedy, which resulted in two deaths, the Odisha government has resolved to initiate an investigation at the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) level.
The investigation to be carried out by the RDC will begin soon and report within two months, stated Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Thursday.
The Minister mentioned that the state-wide operation against illegal liquor outlets is underway. To date, 217 illegal liquor outlets have been seized and 117 individuals arrested. The seized liquor is being disposed of, and the illicit establishments are set to be razed, he added.
