Ganjam Hooch Tragedy Stalls House for 4th Consecutive Day – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: Chaos reigned in the State Legislative Assembly for the fourth consecutive day of the current second phase of the Budget session, as opposition Congress and BJD members continued their uproar in the well of the House over the Ganjam hooch tragedy.

With the House unable to proceed due to the tumult, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the session until 11.30 AM. At the start of the day’s session at 10.30 AM, opposition Congress and BJD members swarmed the well of the House, calling for the resignation of Excise Minister Prathivraj Harichandan in response to the Chikiti Hooch tragedy, which resulted in two fatalities so far.

Several BJD MLAs, including Parsuram Dhada, Jogesh Singh, Biswa Mallik, and Romanch Ranjan Biswal, made attempts to ascend the Speaker’s podium, while their fellow Opposition members generated commotion in the well.
