Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Tuesday announced to fill vacant positions across various departments via an employment drive, known as Nikujkti Mela, scheduled for September.
In the initial stage of this recruitment drive, a minimum of 35,000 vacant positions are set to be filled. Chief Minister Majhi will likely distribute appointment letters to 22,000 new appointees in September.
Out of 3,99,666 sanctioned posts in the state government, approximately 1,32,459 positions are vacant. The BJP, in its election manifesto, had pledged to fill these vacancies upon assuming power in Odisha.
In the drive’s first phase, 18,788 Junior Teachers will receive their appointment letters. Subsequently, around 21,918 appointment letters will be distributed for various positions across six job fairs.
Directions have been issued to obtain the high-level committee’s approval for the remaining 92,203 vacancies by September, with recruitment agencies instructed to release the advertisements by December 2024.
