All gates of the Hirakud Dam in Odisha’s Sambalpur were shut on Monday due to a reduction in the water inflow into the reservoir.
Considering the diminished rainfall in the Mahanadi River’s upper catchment area, the dam authorities ordered to close the remaining two sluice gates.
Consequently, all sluice gates have been closed, ceasing the release of water downstream from the dam.
