Nursing Officers’ Strike Disrupts Medical Services Across Odisha – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: Medical services across Odisha have been significantly disrupted as nursing officers commenced a cease-work agitation.

The strike, organized by the Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association (ONEA), aims to press the government to meet their 10-point demands, which include the regularization of contractual workers and the abolition of outsourcing practices.

The agitation has led to a halt in non-emergency medical services in state-run hospitals and healthcare centers. Despite the government’s directive under the Odisha Emergency Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988, to take action against striking nurses, the ONEA has persisted with their protest.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has called for a meeting with the association to discuss their demands, expressing hope that the discussions will prevent further disruption of healthcare services.
