“Keep Gods Out Of Politics”, Says Supreme Court On Tirupati Laddoo Row – N.F Times

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday emphasised the divide between religion and politics as it heard petitions over allegations of animal fat in ghee used to make laddoos at Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati temple.

The court took a dim view of the timing of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu releasing a lab report claiming traces of fish oil, beef tallow, and lard (pig fat) were found in the ghee.

“We expect Gods to be kept away from politics, why did the Chief Minister go to the press?” the court asked.

The court stressed the importance of maintaining the sanctity of religious practices and not allowing them to be used for political gain.

The court has directed an independent investigation into the allegations to ensure transparency and uphold the faith of millions of devotees. This ruling is seen as a crucial step in preserving the integrity of religious institutions and preventing their exploitation for political purposes.

The Supreme Court’s intervention aims to protect this heritage and ensure that religious sentiments are respected and not manipulated.

As the investigation proceeds, the court’s directive serves as a reminder of the need to uphold the separation of religion and politics, ensuring that faith remains a personal and sacred matter, free from political interference.
