Student dies of Diptheria in Malkangiri, medical team from Bhubaneswar collects swabs of other students – N.F Times


 

Malkangiri: A student from Malkangiri district has succumbed to diphtheria, prompting swift action from health authorities. The student, who was enrolled at Chitrangpalli Residential School, exhibited symptoms of the highly contagious disease and was initially treated at a local hospital before being referred to Koraput Medical College for advanced care. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, the student passed away.

In response to the incident, a special medical team from Bhubaneswar has been dispatched to Malkangiri to conduct a thorough investigation and prevent further spread of the disease. The team has collected throat swabs from students at Chitrangpalli and Tangaguda sevashramas, where several students have shown symptoms of diphtheria.

The collected samples have been sent for laboratory testing, and precautionary measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of all students. Currently, affected students are receiving treatment at Kalimela Community Health Center (CHC), with one student in critical condition being referred to Koraput Medical College.
