Rajya Sabha Chairman Orders Probe After Currency Notes Found at Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi’s Seat

News Article:
New Delhi, December 6, 2024 – Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has ordered an investigation after a bundle of currency notes was discovered at the seat of Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Chairman Dhankhar informed the House that the currency notes were found under seat number 222, which is currently assigned to Singhvi, a senior advocate and Congress representative from Telangana.

“The matter was brought to my notice, and I have ensured that a thorough investigation is underway,” Dhankhar stated.

The discovery has sparked a significant controversy, with Singhvi vehemently denying any knowledge of the currency notes. “I carry only one ₹500 note when I attend the Rajya Sabha. I was in the chamber for just a few minutes before the session ended,” Singhvi explained. He added that he was present in the chamber from 12:57 PM until the proceedings were adjourned at 1 PM, after which he went to the canteen and left the Parliament at 1:30 PM.

The incident has led to protests from Congress leaders, who have demanded a fair and transparent investigation. The opposition party has expressed concerns over the potential implications of the discovery and has called for a detailed inquiry to uncover the truth.

As the investigation proceeds, the Rajya Sabha and the public await further details on this unexpected development. The outcome of the probe will be crucial in determining the next steps and addressing the concerns raised by this incident.
