Odisha’s sprinter Dondapati M Jayaram clinched the men’s Under-20 100m gold at the 39th National Junior Athletics Championships, clocking a personal best of 10.5 seconds at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday evening.

This victory was particularly sweet for 19-year-old sprinter Jayaram, who had previously been a part of the Indian 4x100m relay teams that secured bronze medals at the Asian U-20 Championships in 2023 and 2024.

Athletes from Maharashtra trailed behind Jayaram, with Laukik Melge taking silver and Harsh Raut earning bronze.

The U-20 100m men’s race medals were presented by B.K. Swain, the additional secretary of DSYS, and Anuradha Biswal, an Olympian from Odisha.

Minister for Department of Sports and Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj congratulated Dondapati M Jayaram for the feat and encouraged him to continue his good performance.

Also, Samikshya Smara Premana of Odisha secured a Bronze medal in the Girls Triathlon B U14 event.
