Odisha Commando Leads Grassroots Army Training Movement

Jajpur: A unique initiative by a Para Special Forces commando of the Indian Army is drawing widespread appreciation in the region for inspiring and preparing local youth to join the armed forces. Biswajit Jena (27), currently serving in the 9 Para Special Forces unit of the Indian Army, has been utilizing his leave periods to provide free training to aspiring candidates in his native area. A resident of Golakunda panchayat under Bari block in Jajpur district, Biswajit had joined the Army Supply Corps in 2018. Through dedication and performance, he later earned a position in the elite Special Forces. Sharing his eight years of experience, he conducts daily training sessions at the Satyasai playground in Kakudikud under the Jhalapada gp. From 5 am to 7 am, youths from nearby villages including Jhalapada, Nilakanthapur, Malisahi, Sujanpur, Rudrapur, Badabagasaahi, Sithalo, Brahmabarada, Bandhadiha, and Jaanpada actively participate. The training includes physical exercises, endurance running, yoga, and pranayama, along with essential fitness guidance. He also mentors participants in general knowledge and other requirements necessary for recruitment into the armed forces. For the past two years, Biswajit has consistently carried out this initiative during his visits home. His efforts have already borne fruit, with at least three youths successfully securing positions in the Indian Army. Looking ahead, he aims to establish a larger free training center to support more aspirants. Beyond training, he is also involved in social activities such as plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and awareness programs. Local residents have lauded his dedication, noting that his initiative is not only shaping careers but also serving as a powerful source of inspiration for the younger generation.
