Bhubaneswar: Prasanta Kumar Mohapatra, the Traffic Inspector of Jagatsinghpur, was caught with suspected ill-gotten cash to the tune of Rs 4.27 lakh in Biribati area of Odisha’s Cuttack district today.
Based on reliable information, the Vigilance sleuths intercepted Mohapatra at Tarini Square in Biribati area in the evening while he was on his way to the capital city in a car (OD-02-CP-5414) and found the money from his possession.
The Vigilance sleuths seized the money as the Traffic Inspector could not give proper accounts in this regard.
Following the seizure, searches are being carried out at two locations linked to Mohapatra to unearth any possible disproportionate assets amassed by him, said a Vigilance official.
“We are now questioning Mohapatra to ascertain the sources of the money seized from his possession,” he added.
