MOU signed between SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant and ALIMCO for providing assistive devices to Senior Citizens and Differently Abled people

Rourkela : A memorandum of understanding was signed between SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant and ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), a Central Government undertaking on 10th November, 2022 at the at Institute for Peripheral Development, CSR Department, for providing assistive devices to Senior Citizens with disabilities and differently abled persons. Mr. Ajaya Kumar Nayak, CGM (TA & CSR) signed the MOU on behalf of RSP whereas Mr. Chandan Kumar Chand, Unit Head, Eastern Region signed on behalf of ALIMCO. Present on the occasion were Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM (CSR), Mr. T. B. Toppo, AGM (CSR), Mr. A. N. Pati, Senior Manager (CSR) and Mr. K. C. Behera, Officer of Prosthetic and Orthotics of AMILCO.
The programme aims to cover the direct impact area of RSP and Odisha Group of Mines (OGoM) in the districts of Sundargarh and Keonjhar. Under this programme, the list of beneficiaries from the concerned areas shall be collected by ALIMCO from the respective Collectorate and distribution camps shall be accordingly organized at block level.
Total cost for this project is Rs. 86.00 lakhs.In the beginning Ms. Munmun Mittra, welcomed the dignitaries and elaborated the on the purpose of the project. She also informed that the distribution camps will be organised on 3rd December, 2022 to commemorate the International day for Person with disabilities (Divyangjans).
Notably ALIMCO produces artificial limbs for the Person with disabilities (Divyangjans) and assistive devices for senior citizens. The assistive devices for eligible divyangjans under this project would comprise battery operated motorized Tricycles, hand propelled Tricycles, wheel chairs, hearing aids, smart/sugamya cane, adjustable crutch axilla, Braille cane, Braille kit etc. Similarly for eligible senior citizens the devices would include walking sticks, elbow crutches, walker/crutches axilla, tripods/tetrapods, hearing aids, wheel chairs, wheel chairs with commode, chair/stool with commode, Silicon Foam Cushion, knee brace, spinal support, cervical collar, walker/rollator with brakes, foot care kit etc. shall be provided as per requirement.
