Bhilai : The Ministry of Culture, Government of India is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter, philosopher, poet, sage and yogi Sri Aurobindo in the year 2022. On this occasion, a photo exhibition on the life, work and vision of Sri Aurobindo is being organized by Public Relations Dept.of Bhilai Steel Plant in association with Shri Aurobindo Yoga Sadhana Kendra, Sector-7, Bhilai at Nehru Art Gallery, Civic Center, Bhilai. The exhibition, organized by the Public Relations Department of the plant at Nehru Art Gallery, Bhilai, was inaugurated on 23rd August, 2022 by Chief Guest Shri MM Gadre, Executive Director (Personnel & Administration), Bhilai Steel Plant. On this occasion, the Executive Director (Personnel and Administration) Shri MM Gadre, along with lighting the lamp, also released a souvenir based on the biography of Shri Aurobindo. Along with this, Shri Gadre visited the entire exhibition. Shri Gadre highly appreciated the exhibition.
On this occasion, on behalf of Sri Aurobindo Yoga Sadhana Kendra, Sector-7, Bhilai President Mr. Amresh Kumar, Secretary Mr. Hemant Kumar Barik, Founder Members Mr. Jhaduram, Mr. Amitabh Dutta, Mr. Brahmanand Jena, Mr. Bhavani Shankar, Mr. Maruti Shankar, Mrs. Rita Dutta, Smt. Sanchayita Roy and other members were present. Apart from this, General Manager (LA&PR) Mr. Jacob Kurian, General Manager OF ED (P&A) office Mr. H. Shekhar, General Manager (PR) Mr. Prashant Tiwari and Senior Manager (PR) Mr. Jawahar Bajpai especially present.
With the guidance of Shri Aurobindo Yoga Sadhana Kendra, Bhilai and with the support of Public Relations Department of Bhilai Steel Plant, this exhibition will be open for public viewing from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm daily till August 25, 2022.
It may be noted that Sri Aurobindo was born in 1872 and died in 1950. He was a yogi and philosopher. He was born on 15 August 1872 in Calcutta. His father was a doctor. He participated in the freedom struggle as a revolutionary in his youth, but later he became a yogi and he established an ashram in Pondicherry. He wrote original texts on yoga practice. He has had a great influence on philosophy all over the world. This is the reason that followers of him are found in all countries. Sri Aurobindo’s father Dr. Krishnadhan Ghosh wanted to get him a higher government post by getting him an excellent education, so he sent him to England at the age of 7. He passed the ICS exam at the age of 18 only. Along with this he also gained proficiency in English, German, French, Greek and Italian languages. Sri Aurobindo was a great yogi and guru as well as a great philosopher. In his youth, he took part in the independence of the country along with the revolutionaries in the freedom struggle.
