Bhubaneswar: The concluding evening at the Rajarani temple witnessed scintillating performance on Carnatic Vocal by Purnakudi M. Balamuralikrishna, was an Indian Carnatic Vocalist with Carnatic Violin by Akkarai sisters, was a 21st-century violinist in the field of Carnatic music.
In the first phase Internationally acclaimed Carnatic Classical Singer Purnakudi M. Balamuralikrishnan from Chennai presented the varied nuances of Carantic music on different Rags, Talas and Pallavi. He started with Rag Hindolam and Tala Adital followed by some rendition in high octave enamored the audiences who were deeply engrossed by the presentation of this colossus personality in Indian classical music. He added quite a few songs of different Talas perfectly and elegantly synchronized with the Mrudangum played by Patri Satish Kumar and Violin played by Karthik. The atmosphere inside the temple premises was not only musical but thrilled the music lovers for whom the rendition of Balamurlikrishna was indeed memorable.
In the second phase noted violinist Akkarai Sisters, S Subhalakshmi and S Sornalatha presented Rag Kankangi and Tala-Aditala followed by Fusion Music showcasing the intricacies of Carnatic Music, the weaving of svara patterns in different tempos, rhythms and gaits in the given tala, developed variations creating aesthetics in melodic theme developed from simplicity to complexity increasing embellishment and dynamics. The decorative elements are very judiciously applied so as to enhance the beauty of the compositions. The duo artistes who enthralled the audience were accompained on Mrudangam by Kullur Jayachandra Rao and on Ghatam by Giridhara Uduppa.
The dignitaries who graced the concluding evening were Tusharkanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister, E & IT, Sports & Youth Services and Home Department; Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Director, Tourism; Ranjan Kumar Das, Director, Odia Literature, Language & Culture; Smt. Aruna Mohanty, President, Odisha Sangita Natak Akademi; Khirod Patnaik, Secretary, Bhubaneswar Music Circle; Subodh Acharya, Joint Director, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department and Prabodh Kumar Rath, Secretary, Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi. The programme was anchored by Dr. Sangita Gosain and Anuja Tarini Mishra.
