Bhubaneswar: Kashmiri youth Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, who was arrested by Odisha STF from Jajpur district on cheating charges, will face a 5-day marathon grilling over his suspected links with some anti-national elements.
The state STF has taken the accused on a 5-day remand for questioning from today.
Ishaan Bukhari, a resident of Peer Mohalla at Handwara in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, was apprehended during a raid at Neulpur in the Dharmasala area of Jajpur district in Odisha. Many incriminating materials including more than 100 documents, numerous forged documents like foreign medical degree certificates, some blank signed documents, affidavits, bonds, identity cards, ATM cards, blank cheques, Aadhaar cards and visiting cards were seized during the search.
The accused has been booked under sections 419/420/465/467/468/471/120(B) of IPC r/w sections 66 C/66 of IT Act, 2000.
The STF alleged that Bukhari impersonating as neuro specialist doctor, an army doctor, an officer in PMO, a close associate of some high ranking NIA officials etc was cheating people. He has married at least 6-7 women from various parts of India including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha. He was allegedly in romantic relationship with multiple women identifying himself as a doctor with foreign medical degrees.
During investigation, the probe agency found that Bukhari was in touch with suspicious persons in Kerala and some Pakistani nationals.
According to reports, the 37-year-old Bukhari became the resident of Dharmasala by adding his name to the voters’ list of Milatnagar ward under Neulpur Panchayat. He also made changes in his Aadhaar Card to prove his identity as the local of the area. He married Sainaz Parveen, a daughter of Sheik Kabiruddin of Neulpur village, after developing relationship with her on social media.
Reports said that Sainaz married Bukhari after getting divorce from her first husband. She had also helped Bukhari in preparing documents to obtain Voter card and Aadhaar card with Neulpur address.
Based on media reports following arrest of Bukhari, a private school, where Sainaz was working as a teacher at Milatnagar, sacked her from service with immediate effect.
