Puri: Bada Danda becomes wider after makeshift shops vacate road – N.F Times

Puri: The traffic jam issue on Bada Danda in Odisha’s Puri town was resolved today as the road became much wider after the owners of makeshift shops vacated the stretch on roadside.

The temporary shops were shifted by the local administration as a part of beautification project of the shrine.

As a result, road from Bada Danda Market Chhak to Singhadwara became around 100-feet wide for movement of devotees.

Earlier, a major portion of the road was encroached by the shopkeepers, narrowing the stretch significantly.

This apart, auto-rickshaws were operating on the road unauthorizedly.

Notably, makeshift shops were cleared from Bada Danda in the first phase from Marichikote Chhak to Singhadwara. In the second phase, the same was done from Market Chhak to Marichikote Chhak.
